Mike Bird (PhD) has taught history in secondary schools in the NW of England.
He now teaches the practice of teaching to student history teachers.
Nick McDonald (BEng, MTL)
worked in manufacturing industry before teaching mathematics in
secondary schools in the North West of England.
He has now returned to industry.
Both have belonged to an R&D group who want to become authorities
of their own practice, and ultimately better teachers.
They also want to help teaching regain its professional status, after years of prescription and
a poverty of understanding regarding learning, and what factors make it good or bad.
